Has the God who inspired the Kairos document left South Africa?

In the beginning there was a God

A Restless and peaceful God

Who turned to restless and peaceful hearts

And said: my Word cannot be abused in this way

My Name cannot be misused in this way

Restore the Church!

Restore the Nation!

Prepare the Way!

And we did…

We proclaimed the Moment

The Moment of Truth

The Moment of peace with a sword

The Moment that spoke to Christians both oppressor and oppressed

The Voice of the One standing before Pharoah and Pilate has spoken

Through the voices of many of his followers

Painful Words

Not words accepted by all in his Church

But words that also brought healing by cutting the wound

And allowing fresh blood to pour into new veins

Now –

where have this God gone?

This is our faith: That God is still Emmanuel

Staying anonymous, ready to disturb and surprise us

A waiting God, an advent God

Waiting, for faithful hearts and hearers

To proclaim that

“Now Lord may your servant depart in peace

Your word has been fulfilled”

Your servant cannot depart in peace

Your Word has not yet been fulfilled…..

Thank you Edward for these words. I echo them wholeheartedly –

Your servant cannot depart in peace, Your Word has not yet been fulfilled..

    Thank you.
